Ramirez Family
My name is Albert Ramirez, and my family and I are proud to call the SCUCISD community home. My wife teaches in Comal ISD, and our two sons attend schools in this district. We first settled in Schertz, Texas, in September 2013 while I was stationed at JBSA Randolph, and by June 2017, we made Cibolo our forever home.
After 20 years of honorable service in the United States Air Force, I retired in 2019. My career in military law, labor and employment law, claims, and civil law taught me the importance of integrity, accountability, and teamwork—principles that guide me every day. I hold a Texas real estate license and currently serve on the Buffalo Crossing HOA Board, where I work to strengthen our community through transparency, collaboration, and service.
My wife, Mary Lou Ramirez, is an award-winning educator and was recognized as the Comal ISD District Teacher of the Year. She is a proud Texas Tech University alumna with a master’s degree from UT San Antonio. Her dedication to teaching and her model of “Be Better and Aim Higher” inspire not only her students but our entire family.
Our sons, Tristan and Logan, both attend Steele High School. Tristan is a junior and a proud member of the Steele Knights Band. Logan is a sophomore and plays in the varsity orchestra. Both are at the top of their class, serve in the National Honor Society, and are active in their church. When they are not studying or performing, they enjoy baking, playing tennis, and anything Disney.
Family, faith, and service are at the heart of who I am. I believe strong communities begin with strong families, and I am proud to serve and give back to the one that has given us so much.

A Message from Al Ramirez!
SCUCISD has always stood for something greater than itself. It represents families, teachers, and students working side by side to build a better tomorrow. The strength of this district comes from people who care deeply and give selflessly. That legacy deserves to be protected and strengthened, because when our schools succeed, our entire community rises together.
During my 20 years in the United States Air Force, I had the privilege of serving around the world, including deployments to Afghanistan. I will never forget the sight of children playing in piles of trash, their schools in ruins, their futures uncertain. It was a painful reminder that education is not guaranteed everywhere. Here at home, it is our duty to ensure that every child has the chance to learn, to grow, and to dream beyond their circumstances.
My belief in education runs deep, because it is the story of my own family. My father worked as a custodian, sweeping floors and mopping hallways so his seven children could have a chance at something more. He showed me that no job is small when it is done with purpose. Because of his sacrifice, several of my siblings went on to earn doctorates, and all of us built lives grounded in service and faith. His example taught me that education can lift an entire family, one generation at a time.
My wife, Mary Lou Ramirez, carries that same torch of hope. She is a Comal ISD District Teacher of the Year, a Texas Tech University alumna, and a UT San Antonio master’s graduate. Her model of “Be Better and Aim Higher” reflects what I believe education should be about — growth, compassion, and resilience.
Our sons, Tristan and Logan, both attend Steele High School. Tristan is a junior in the Steele Knights Band, and Logan is a sophomore in the Varsity Orchestra. Both are honor students, members of the National Honor Society, and leaders among their peers. They are proof of what happens when teachers, parents, and a community believe in the same purpose.
I am a father, a husband, and a retired military veteran. My life has been shaped by service — to my country, my community, and my family. I want to give back to the district that has given my family so much. Every child deserves the same chance my father fought to give us: the chance to rise, to learn, and to lead.
Together, we can continue building an SCUCISD where every student is seen, every teacher is supported, and every family feels proud to belong.

Protect
Every student, teacher, parent, and staff member in our community matters. They are the heart of who we are. Their safety is not just a priority, it is a promise we make to one another. No one should ever have to fear violence, threats, bullying, or harmful influences on our campuses.
When our schools are safe, our students can focus on learning, our teachers can focus on teaching, and our families can focus on growing together. Safety builds trust, and trust builds stronger schools.
This is not a task for one person or one board. It takes all of us, families, educators, and community members, standing together, looking out for one another, and protecting what matters most. Together, we can make sure every child in SCUC feels safe, supported, and ready to thrive.
Inspire
Every generation builds on the one before it. I think about that when I look at my sons, Tristan and Logan. They remind me that everything we do becomes the foundation for those who follow.
During my twenty years in the Air Force, I saw how belief and mentorship could change lives. I was blessed with mentors who guided me, and their example shaped who I am today. Now I try to do the same for others.
My father worked as a custodian so his children could have opportunities he never had. Because of his sacrifice, my siblings and I built lives grounded in education and service. That is what I want for every child in our community, the chance to rise, to learn, and to lead.
When we guide and invest in the next generation, we do more than teach. We build hope, and that hope lights the way for everyone who comes after.
Educate
Quality education is one of the greatest gifts we can give. It shapes the mind and touches the heart. It is more than grades or test scores. It helps students understand the world and discover their place in it.
I have seen how education can change lives. It changed mine, and it changed my family’s. Education lifts people up and opens doors that once seemed out of reach.
When we invest in quality education, we do more than fill minds with knowledge. We give hope, purpose, and the opportunity for every child to see a brighter future.
